Not really listening...

Hey all, thought i'd post to show you i'm still breathing :)

Things have been going pretty well lately. I'm not broke (always a good start), and have been floating along quite happily.

Firstly; along with some people i'm currently making a short zombie film. Just finished 2nd day of filming, with one weekend left to go (plus editing etc): http://myspace.com/lowbudgetzombie

Secondly; I've been accepted for a job I applied for in london. I've been working for about a year now at BBC Manchester, and will be transferring to work on BBC Teens web projects from within a new team - being created from scratch! Wooooo :D

So I guess after 5 years in ol' Manchester, june is going to be my last full month here...

A big thanks to mister Chrisptofu who's let me stay here for a wicked 13 months. Everyone needs a bit of space to themselves sometimes, I am gonna miss this place tho!!

On the way back from the 24-hour Asda this morning (which turns out to be not-so-24-hour) I happened upon a stray dog! Or rather.. it happened upon me. Cold and lost as it was.

SO, like an icecream lures kids, I tempted it back to the warmth of our flat!! I'm sad now the dog-warden has collected it. Had a really chilled out temperment n' everyfin. I didn't give it a name as otherwise I would blatently end up keeping it. (I do now know that it, is in fact, a she.)

I've always wanted to write an LJ meme and, given my dissertation topic, writing some fuzzy logic for LJ seemed a goer. Was it possible to predict people's gender from what LJ interests they had? If a correlation exists between the two, the project should work. And so, I give you DINK.v1

Please do not spread this like a meme. It takes enough time to train the damn thing with 50 results, let alone hundreds or thousands! I do not have the resources currently to set aside a processor just to continually update it.

Also please note: There are 3 or 4 variables responsible for the net accuracy. I won't get these right straight away, so no miracles for a while.

A few people on my friends list have already been added as test cases. Those people can still try it out and it will tell you it's guess if it didn't already know the answer.

...expect it to guess wrong to start with. :-P

Something my work experience last year got me into was playing online chess. I need a bit of strategy in my life innit and since i'm not a soldier or anything chess fills a gap.

Well.. that fucking rocked. Went to see faithless at the massive manchester M.E.N. area (10,000 upwards capacity) and it was PACKED. They. Were. Soo. Good. ...so many great tracks!

I had noticed about the gig from Lydia's LJ and it is indeed a shame we on bad terms as it would have been ace to go together.. NONETHELESS I went on my own anyway, and ended up in the higher tier seating.... but once that music kicked in I was more than fine.

Faithless are one of my [teenage] life channeling bands, along with prodigy, atari teenage riot and tori amos. I have all their albums and know all the songs and words but have never been to any gigs. Walking round with Gemma in spain singing faithless lyrics will always be one of my happiest memories. Back to the gig.. I was really impressed they did a club version of Mass Destruction as I'd thought the normal version was very popified.

I'd rung bartholomew to see if he was going, which he wasn't.. but I ended up in rusholme afterwards, at his friends party/movie-watching-session. A house full of anti-capitalist krusties with dreads and interestingly shaved heads.. those that know me well will realise how great that prospect is for my brain.

Had a wicked time there and ended up agreeing to photograph some sort of small protesty thing. *shrug* but yay!

Rock on Channel 4, I mean I know that this goes on, but only because I read independant media. I think that's quite head-on to put it on late night prime time :-) (Also, worth noting that the UK has been complicit in several cases of rendition).
